Why Skills-First Hiring Matters
Another shift explored in the report is the move toward skills-first hiring models.
Many early AI tools relied on “matching” candidates to existing workforce patterns. While efficient, that approach can unintentionally reinforce historical hiring biases.
Instead, skills-first models evaluate candidates based on demonstrable capabilities, not similarity to past hires. This makes hiring processes more transparent, fairer, and often more effective.
Research increasingly supports this shift. According to LinkedIn, organisations using skills-based hiring approaches are 12% more likely to make a quality hire.
The Question Organisations Must Now Answer
AI will continue to transform recruitment – but the next phase of adoption will be defined by trust, transparency, and governance.
